Community Christmas Tree

A magnificent fundraising effort saw the Matamata Chamber of Commerce buy a dazzling Community Christmas Tree, lit up for the first time in 2021.

The 8m-high beauty is the centrepiece of the Chamber’s annual December promotions which include a Twilight Market and Christmas Parade.

A public fundraising drive raised the $30,000 required to purchase the tree, erected by volunteers including local service clubs.

Storage, transport and installation was generously supported by J Swap Contractors, Waharoa Transport and Electrico.

Sponsors are recognised, through signs donated by Waikato Printing Company, on palings in a low-level fence built by Matamata Men’s Shed with materials given by Mitre 10 Matamata.

The tree takes pride of place through December each year in Arawa St South.
