The business began on Tainui Street, Matamata, from where it originally gained its name in 1934, moving to a number of different locations over the years and now based in modern premises at 7 Short Street, Matamata.

Tainui Press understands the importance of employing and training local talent, proudly producing two of the NZ Printing Industries' "Graphic Design/Pre-press Apprentices of the Year" recipients, with two more making the finals, the first time a New Zealand printing company had produced two national winners in the same branch of the industry. The company continues its policy of investing in and training apprentices.
Employing its own in-house design team ensures each project is monitored from conception, through production, to delivery.
