Scene is Matamata's only personally owned and operated magazine-style local newspaper, priceless, personal, quirky and promoting all that the district has to offer in a completely positive, colourful and vibrant way.
The first edition was produced in May 2005 and became a popular fortnightly community read, moving to weekly publication at the start of 2019. All content is locally based, with a strong focus on encouraging local shopping, local support and progressive growth of one of the most centrally located and accessible districts in the Waikato.
Regular contributors provide a range of relevant and interesting reports, from fishing to local theatre, with the team on the spot wherever possible to help celebrate achievements, celebrations and good news as it happens.
Scene is distributed free to all urban and rural addresses throughout the Matamata and Tirau area, including RD3 and 4 Putaruru, Wardville, Walton, Waharoa, Richmond Downs and Okauia, with a full version also available online with no fees or registration.
