Kiwanis Club of Matamata voluntarily shares the challenge of community improvement and leadership, assuming personal responsibility for civic projects including assistance to youth, the disadvantaged and the elderly, conservation of natural resources, development of community facilities, and creation of international understanding and goodwill.
If you live in a community where Kiwanis is represented and have a community service project the club might be able to help with, they want to hear from you. All requests are considered, though projects that directly benefit young children and their families are given more favourable consideration, and the club prefers projects it can do, build or otherwise participate in rather than just providing financial assistance.
Being part of Kiwanis offers an opportunity to develop leadership and public speaking skills, the pride of belonging to one of the finest service organisations in the world, opportunities for meeting and networking with prominent leaders locally, nationally and internationally, and the good feeling that comes from personally helping your community and its people.
Membership is open to all individuals of good character and community standing residing in, or with other interests within, the community the club serves, requiring only a willingness to serve, attendance at the majority of meetings, and payment of annual dues. If Kiwanis sounds like a good idea, write, call or email to find out more or visit a meeting as a guest.
